What a relief! After many years, an unrestored original '59 Cadillac from a long-time collector's collection has surfaced and is for sale!
And with a very low mileage: 27,000 miles (approx. 44,000 KM).
Can this be true? We have checked the car thoroughly and say yes.
The engine runs, the automatic transmission (Hydra-matic), the chassis and the handling:
It feels like a young used car. Wonderful.
Add to that the wonderful interior: original carpet, shiny seat covers thanks to the Lurex thread, very nice fabric roof liner in Series 62, flawless parcel shelf (cardboard!).
The steering wheel still has the horn ring. It is often broken off and not easy to replace.
The contrasting coloured part of the steering wheel is also very nice: it is "grooved" and these are still good. Usually worn out after 50,000 miles or covered by repainting.
The dashboard has no cracks. Everything shines in the new Code 37 metallic effect:
Green-black Carlisle pattern metallic nylon with green metallic Elasco fab.
The exterior is finished in a stunning 'iverness green'. After all these years, the green paint on the bonnet and roof is patinaed, but still shines beautifully, as does the impressive chrome trim.
The underbody and engine compartment are pristine. The car has always been serviced and worn parts replaced or overhauled. It is ready for nice trips or exhibitions.
Group A equipment has been ordered: Tinted windows: All original windows with EZ Eye Glass identification are still there! Heating: Yes, you had to order it. Tubular radio (preheat please) and electric aerial with front and rear speakers and the beautiful original whitewall tyres.
A car is original only once: this is the case with this coupé, even though it is 65 years old. It has become very rare to find a '59 that has not been "renovated" several times, often to varying degrees of quality.
This Cadillac still has an American title and is customs cleared to preserve its originality.
